A429 Rat Brain
Ideal for comparative studies in psychology, neuroanatomy and comparative anatomy, this plastic reproduction depicts the brain of a rat scaled to six times natural size. A midsagittal section divides the brain, which can be disassembled into right and left halves. The right half has been color coded as follows: cerebrum – pink, cerebellum – blue, and brain stem – yellow. The largely transparent left half provides a view into the lateral ventricle and hippocampus, both of which have been highlighted in contrasting colors. The brain is supported in its natural position on a base, which also incorporates a life size cast of an actual rat brain, and a scaled down illustration of a midsagittal section through a human brain. Both employ the same color coding scheme utilized on the main model.
